My brother and I were looking for a Waterfowl hunt in Northern Alberta or Saskatchewan. We wanted to have the ultimate experience with lots of birds on the ground and sore shoulders for the next week! We wanted nice accommodations, good food and great companionship. We decided to give MC Outfitters a try and were not disappointed!! Owners Kerby and Stephanie McMann lived up to all of those expectations and more. The MC Outfitters team is a first class operation. It truly was an amazing three days of bird hunting and we created some great memories and friends for life. We can honestly say that we arrived as strangers and left as friends. I have hunted waterfowl the last four years with MC Outfitters. I have been very pleased with the total experience of hunting with Steph and Kerby! The Waterfowl equipment was first class and the hunts have been productive and well run. All aspects of the hunt and Lodge were "as advertised" and there were no surprises. The guides did a great job and spared no effort to make sure all had a comfortable and successful hunt. We have enjoyed staying in the McMann home, enjoying the home cooked meals, and getting to know all the family. We now regard the McMann's as our Canadian extended family and I will be hunting with MC Outfitters again.

Wow! What an amazing experience with such great people!

I’m new to waterfowl hunting and was looking for an opportunity to experience my 1st hunt, but I was not sure where to start. After my initial chat with Steph as to my background, available dates and what I was looking for in my 1st hunt, I knew right away MC Outfitters was going to be the perfect fit.

Even though I’m from Alberta, MC Outfitters took care of all required licenses / permits that I needed for the 3 day hunt - they made it super easy. I had many questions, being new a hunter, but no question was too small or silly. And trust me I had tons of questions! There was lots of communication leading up to the hunt and they were quick to respond every time.

When I arrived to their working family farm (Cold Lake Alberta) and met Stephanie & Kirby, I knew once again I made the correct choice. Dan, my hunting guide for the 3 days, was right there to greet me also and helped me to get settled with my gear and room for my stay. I felt at home right away. Do not worry about being hungry as Steph is a great cook and makes sure you are a happy hunter at all times. She make a killer cheese biscuit that you need to try. They are good people!

I was lucky enough to book 3 days of hunting with MC Outfitters. Every morning, before daylight, we were up and ready to get started. The morning coffee was always ready and they even made sure we had more for later that day as needed- it’s the small things like this that made the hunt even better. Once we arrived at the local farm fields for that mornings hunt, the whole crew got started right away unloading all the gear that was required. They had all the tools (dozens of top shelf duck / goose decoys and blinds -sit in & laydown depending on the hunt) and know-how required for a set up that was world class and made for an amazing hunt each day. I tried my best to help where I could, but they are pro’s and knew what best actions were need to be successful for that days hunt.

And amazing it was – for all 3 hunts! Dan is a guide like no other and knows more about waterfowl hunting then you could ever imagine. His skill set is amazing! He can call in birds that are super far away or have no thoughts of coming in. At times, I could not even see what he was telling me to get ready for, the guy has eyes like a hawk – but Dan makes sure you are aware where the birds are before the true excitement begins. Leave your duck/goose calls at home, because Dan is an artist and truly knows what he is doing to bring in huge amounts of birds. Dan called in birds so close to you, that at times you felt like you could reach out and grab them. He was always there to answer all my rookie questions and shared a lot of info into the sport of waterfowl hunting. His knowledge and excitement for the sport is very contagious and I could not have asked for a better person to learn from. He is a great person to hang out in a duck blind with!

At all times I felt safe and comfortable and you can tell MC Outfitters makes this a priority. Each day I was able to shoot my legal daily limits for ducks and could have done the same for geese, if it were not for my poor shooting – I need more practice I guess. And there were tons of birds! MC Outfitters owns and has permission on thousands of acres of farm land and work hard to set you up for a great hunt. The Cold Lake area is world class for waterfowl and MC Outfitters knows the area like no other. Being local, they work hard to take care of their hunting areas and community. Every step and detail was taken care of and made for a hunt that I will never forget. I’m already day dreaming about next year.

I will be forever grateful for their hospitality, passion for the outdoors and new friendship. If you have ever dreamed of hunting in Canada for world-class waterfowl (they also offer hunts for huge deer and bear BTW) then you need to contact MC Outfitters! The guides are incredibly knowledgeable and professional, making sure every hunt is not only successful but also memorable. They know how to put you on birds and create a great hunting experience from the start to finish. But what really sets them apart is the food – it’s absolutely amazing! After a day in the field. There’s nothing better then sitting down to a delicious hoe-cooked meal. It’s like the perfect blend of comfort and flavor that makes the whole trip feel even more special. Their guides are hardworking, organized and knowledgeable and their equipment is top notch! There is always some trepidation in booking for the first time with a new outfitter however Kerby and Steph are as honest s the day is long. Put simply, they take a deep pride in their outfitting and they do what they say they’re going to do. An added bonus is the wonderful Alberta hospitality that you receive staying in their house – you truly feelpart od the family! It starts from the moment you arrive you are greeted by two wonderful hosts Steph and Kerby, who along with their guide Daniel run a first rate operation. Attention to detail is top priority. Wonderful meals homemade, not pizza in a box or left over from a church pot luck. But meals made with care! Hunting is second to none, great time is spent scouting fields to insure hunters experience top notch waterfowl hunting. Everyone associated with this outfitter work so hard to ensure all guests have the time of their lives. 5 stars are not enough to rate this operation, I’ve been to other Alberta outfitters that just do not come close to MC Outfitters. Thank you for a wonderful experience can’t wait till next year!
